Video | Nigel Sylvester – “Go!’ 2 Los Angeles

In a continuation from the first installment of the GO! series which takes place in the rider’s hometown of NYC (which can be seen here), Nigel Sylvester and BMX videographer Harrison Boyce take us to Tinseltown!

From cruising manuals down the Hollywood Hills, barging through the never ending freeway traffic, to go-karting at the Fantasy Factory, Nigel gives us a first-person look at what it really means to ride around and get it! The imagery is flawless, and the seamless cut scenes will have you scratching your head with wonder. With cameos from stars like Nick “Swaggy P” Young, Ben Baller, and Paul Rodriguez to name a few, you know Nigel is plugged in when on the West Coast. Hopefully this continues on to even more amazing locations, and with the way he exits, you can only imagine that he’s got a few more tricks up his sleeve.

Music | Dej Loaf “All Jokes Aside” mixtape

Since announcing her mainstream presence via the DDS-produced single “Try Me,” petite Detroit rapper Dej Loaf hasn’t slowed down. Today she dropped a second mixtape titled All Jokes Aside, a respectable follow up to her first effort, Sell Sole, which was released in 2014.

Where Sell Sole saw features from the likes of Young Thug, Birdman, Remy Ma and Ty Dolla $ign, All Jokes Aside is all about Dej, with the exception of a cameo from a blast from the No Limits era, Silkk the Shocker. And while we may have gotten used to synth-powered, sing-song vocals from lil’ Dej, this mixtape is a little different.

She describes it best on the track “Chase Mine,” stating, “Lately I’ve been on my rap shit / Had to stop singing for awhile.”

Music | Meek Mill releases 4/4 EP – But where is DC4?

Happy 2016 to you all, 2015 was a year not to be forgotten, especially within the Hip Hop music community. Meek Mill caught a major “L” in 2015 when he tried to expose Drake for not writing his own raps, fair dues Meek. But when one of Drake’s diss tracks gets a Grammy nomination, you have to re-evaluate what you really are doing. Enter 2016, January 16th to be exact, and Meek was previewing music via his social media feeds, which had fans thinking he was ready to drop the much anticipated Dream Chasers 4 mixtape…..but now, he instead has dropped a 4 track EP titled 4/4. Simple, 4 new tracks to keep the fans happy for now. I’ve listened to the tracks now about 5 times, my favourite track has to be FBH. He tries to clap back at Drake over the “I’m The Plug” instrumental, and in my opinion flops, all he did was expose more personal information to get the internet guessing LOL.

Have a listen to the EP via the SoundCloud stream below, and if you want to download it, hit this LINK

Music | Black Friday Mixtape Selection

As the retail world sent bargain savers and Christmas shoppers into a frenzy on Black Friday, November 27th, the hip hop fraternity of artists used this day, as the give back date to their fans by dropping multiple mix tapes for you to stream, and download for free via DatPiff.com. Some of the mixtapes I downloaded included

Chris Brown – Before the Party

Fabolous – Summertime Shootout

Rick Ross – Renzel Remixes

Lil Wayne – No Ceilings 2

Chris_Brown_Before_The_Party

Today is Cyber Monday, so it’s been a non-stop back to back listening fest with these 4 mixtapes, and I can say not one of them disappointed me. Chris Brown certainly leads the track numbers on his mix tape with 34 tracks, which in my opinion could have been split into 2 albums. Some of the features on his mixtape “Before the Party” include Rihanna, Fetty Wap, French Montana, Wiz Khalifa, and his homeboy Tyga as well. If you’re a true Chris Brown fan, and a lover of R&B, this is one for you.

Lil_Wayne_No_Ceilings_2

Between the other 3 mixtapes, well, we waited for Lil Wayne to drop “No Ceilings 2”, and in true Young Money quality control, Weezy F doesn’t disappoint, with various original tracks, and freesyles with his version of Hotline Bling aka Jail Phone.

Fabolous_Summertime_Shootout

Fabolous, what can I say, he is a beast, who has kept to his flow and formula, which is why I am true fan of his. “Summertime Shootout” I feel, should have been released in the summer, it’s one of those mixtapes, you have to bump loudly, with various flavours of tracks, including the upcoming club banger “The Plug”, and his version of Hotline Bling aka Trapline Bling.

Rick_Ross-Renzel_Remixes

I’ll wrap up with the biggest boss, Rick Ross’s “Renzel Remixes”. He has been delivering various freestyle remixes over the past few months, his biggest freestyle remix has to be of Adele’s “Hello”, if you haven’t yet listened to it, simply download his mixtape and put it on blast. This mixtape is 26 tracks, and is covered over 2 discs, so be sure to grab both downloads. All in all, I’ve enjoyed listening to all 4 mixtapes and will continue to for a while to come. I have to salute the other artists that dropped mixtapes on Black Friday, be sure to log onto Datpiff.com to see them all and download.

Music | Stormzy – Standard

So I wake up, check my instagram feed, and I see Stormzy has posted a picture of #standard trending world wide, so it was only right to see what #standard was about…….OH SHIT! Stormzy returns with another banger, obviously replying to anyone’s comments regarding his latest Mobo award wins, and clarifying to the world what is Standard, for him to do. The track is produced by the power team that is The Trackerz, and the my favourite line from this track for me has to be

“Man wanna talk about views on a fire in the booth, check my views on fire in the park”

If you don’t realise who he is sending for by this point in the track, then do like 100,000 people have done by this time of me posting this, listen again. I can see everyone Dabbing to this over the weekend!!!

Music | Chip – Alone [Bugzy Mobo Award lost diss]

After seeing the hype that Bugzy put out there pre-mobo, and the rental, he was asking for THIS to happen. The whole scene knew this would happen, and well, here it is, once again, Chip holds back no lyrical punches to further bury Bugzy. I’ve run out of the amount of diss tracks Chip has done now, compared to the one that Bugzy dropped (it was one, because both tracks had the same lyrics). This isn’t a battle anymore, this is just straight burial. It’s unfair on the fans as Bugzy does not seem to deliver any sort of  credible come back to Chip, and is more interested in making hooks for tracks rather than laying down the lyrical gauntlet that he has been know to do. Let’s see what come back we witness after this goes viral today.

Music | Hotline Bling x What Do You Mean mashup

Both Justin Bieber and Drake are having huge moments on the charts with their songs “What Do You Mean?” and “Hotline Blingrespectively. While it’s expected that any big song will get one too many covers, it’s much less common to see two huge songs mashed up and re-imagined like this. Capitalizing on the popularity of both tracks, singer/songwriter Brayton Bowman created a song he calls “Justin’s Hotline.” Although it borrows lyrics from both “Hotline Bling” and “What Do You Mean?,” it’s a whole new take on both songs. His up-tempo crooning is underscored by a funky, original beat, elevating the source material into something totally his own. Stream the song below.

Fashion | LaceJam x Sneakerbox Rope Lace Collab

I’ve been a long time supporter of the LaceJam brand, swapping plenty of stock laces out of my sneakers for upgraded LaceJam rope laces and grenades. So I was excited that the LaceJam asked me to review their latest collaboration rope laces they have done with Sneakerbox.

IMG_0699

Sneakerbox is a Bristol based sneaker event happening on Saturday, 12th of September, LaceJam teamed up with them to create their biggest collaboration to date. At the event, people will be able to purchase this unique kit of premium rope laces, which consists of the following LaceJam styles – White Phantom , 3M Reflective Obsidian and the iconic BREDs. All rope are finished off with true metal tips, with Sneakerbox laser etched onto the White Phantom and BRED’s. LaceJam is laser etched on the 3M Reflective Obsidian ropes.

When you have the packaging in hand, you can tell your getting a premium quality product, as always from LaceJam, and the quality on the ropes are top of the pack, as always. Call me bias, but LaceJam as a brand has never let me down, unlike some other brands whom I shall not mention.

If your attending the SneakerBox event, be sure to grab yourself a pack of the collaboration laces, and also check out the rest of the LaceJam range, you will not be disappointed.

Chicks In Kicks – Galina

Today, we meet Galina Gorlova, who is a digital and fashion designer, she wears trainers everyday and only has one pair of shoes (for corporate meetings) apart from that it’s trainers all day everyday for Galina. Let’s gets into this Chick In Kicks…

Galina, what got you into collecting Kicks?

I have always been into trainers since I was a child but after working with Adorn Customs and travelling to sneaker events around Europe I wanted to start collecting. It’s not just about the shoe. It’s about the box, laces and insoles also. As a designer I like to appreciate the shoes and all the accessories.

How many Kicks would you say you have in your current collection?

About 20 boxed and a few beaters. I hate having the same kicks as everyone else so buy exclusively what I like, you will never see me in hypebeast kicks.

Bannerworx Photography

What would you say is your preferred sneaker brand?

I used to wear exclusively Nike as a teenager so now I try to go for other brands. My favourite brands at the moment are Saucony and Asics. It seems most of my trainers contain some form of suede which is a dedication trying to keep clean.

Bannerworx Photography

When purchasing Kicks, where do you mainly shop?

I mainly shop online from End, Ebay, Offspring and Size but when I’m at work I like to pop into Foot Asylum for a quick scan. I work so close to Supreme and Palace but stay away from those.

If you miss a release, would you purchase from a re-seller, or pass on the sneakers?

Yes! I would buy kicks from a re-seller as long as I knew them or they had mutual friends with me on social media. As everyone knows everyone else in the sneaker community people are usually trust worthy as they don’t want to ruin their reputation.

Tell us your best memorable sneaker moment?

Travelling to Amsterdam to exhibit at Approved was the highlight of this year. Last year my yellow Gel 3s were featured in the Complex sneakers blog, which was really exciting. When I was younger I used to love to go to Niketown with my father where he would buy me kicks and tracksuit set to match. When I first saw a Saucony at Crepe City two years ago, I fell in love there and then, now it’s one of my all time favourite brands.

Tell your worst memorable sneaker moment?

I don’t think I have had any bad moments with my sneakers apart from maybe people stepping on my precious suede. Once I saw this guy hold his independence days above his head and walk around so proud, it was very weird. That is definitely hypebeast behaviour I can’t stand.

What is your current rotation of everyday wear sneakers?

My rotation usually depends on my clothing as I do like to match, right now I seem to be wearing a lot of Eclat 89s, Gel Lyte 3s, Fluxes and different Sauconys.

Bannerworx Photography

Tell us your top 5 sneakers in your collection?

I love all my kicks equally buy my favourites so far are Jordan Valentines, yellow Gel 3s, Saucony samples, safari huarache lights and lilac Tubulars. My taste seems to be quite unconventional to other sneakerheads, I just like what I like even if it’s a shoe that’s hated by others.

What sneaker do you want to add to your collection and why?

I’m looking for a pair of AM1s as it’s one of the silhouettes I have never owned. I want the pink floral huaraches but I don’t know if I should be going down that road.

To mark the Air Jordan 7’s 23rd anniversary, Jordan Brand is set to release the Air Jordan 7 Retro “Hare.” The “Hare Jordan” commercial, which aired in February 1992 and featured Bugs Bunny in a pair of custom sneakers, helped kick-start the colorway’s popularity, eventually spurring the creation of Space Jam. Last released as part of a countdown pack in 2008, sneakerheads had hoped it would make its solo debut someday. They will get their wish when this retro lands this weekend, at Air Jordan stockists.

Fashion | Air Jordan 11Lab4 “Black”

Introducing the Air Jordan Element 11Lab4. The Jordan LAB series got its start with Jordan Brand taking the elephant print from the Air Jordan 3 and covering the Air Jordan 5 with it.

Probably the most defining element on the Air Jordan XI is its dapper application of patent leather. Taking that defining element, Jordan Brand covers the Air Jordan 4 with patent leather. The colour choice is black, which covers the design with the exception of white on the heel of the midsole. Elegant and ready for dressy occasions.
